The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is located at 4790 W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46222. There are multiple ways of reaching the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. IMS features entrances and exits across all directions around the facility.

Driving Routes
To help Indianapolis Motor Speedway guests determine the best driving routes to parking locations nearest to their seats, the track has been divided into three color zones. The north end of the track is the red zone, the western portion of the facility is green, while the south end being orange zone.

There is a roundabout located at 16th Street and Crawfordsville Road. Guests cannot access Georgetown Road from 16th Street or Crawfordsville Road because it does not connect to the roundabout.

Race Day Closures / Access

All Indianapolis Motor Speedway guests should be aware of the following information for a successful Race Day:
All vehicles entering the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be subject to search. This applies to all vehicles parking inside the track (oval).

  • Street Closures:
    • 16th Street will be closed Indy 500 Race Day between Olin Avenue on the east to the 16th Street roundabout on the west at approximately 11 a.m. In addition, to the 16th Street closure, Polco Street will not be accessible northbound from 10th Street during this time.
    • Georgetown Road, south of 25th Street, will close to ALL vehicular traffic at 7 a.m. To access parking lots along Georgetown Road after 7 a.m., please use the following routes:
      • From the North: Take 25th Street to Auburn Street.
      • From the South: Take Crawfordsville Road to Winton Avenue.
  • Infield Race Day Parking: Guests with a pre-paid infield parking pass must enter through either Gate 2 or Gate 10. Infield lots will open at 6 a.m.
    • Gate 2: Must enter westbound off 16th Street (use right two lanes to enter Gate 2) Guests with 5th & Hulman Parking passes are urged to arrive at IMS via 16th Street and Gate 2. Guests with Turn 3 and Turn 4 parking are urged to arrive at IMS via 30th Street and Gate 10.
    • Gate 10: Enter off 30th Street. Guests with North 40 Parking passes must use 30th Street and Gate 10 to arrive at IMS.
    • Must have pre-purchased parking pass to enter any IMS lot.
  • Exterior Race Day Parking: Exterior lots will open at 5 a.m.
    • All Race Day parking is paid parking; General and ADA
    • Limited accessible Race Day parking spaces remain available. To purchase ADA parking, please contact the IMS ticket office directly at 317-492-6700.
    • Must have pre-purchased parking pass to enter any IMS lot.
  • Transportation Pick Up/Drop Off
    • Taxi: Located at 10th Street and Polco Street
    • Lyft & Uber: Located at Main Street and Gilman Street

Daily Parking & Tailgating
On non-race days, excluding Miller Lite Carb Day, during events daily parking is available around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Tailgating is also available in these areas, providing a fun experience for all fans during events. Daily parking and tailgating is permitted in the following lots:

  • Main Gate
  • Lot 2
  • Lot 3 Grass
  • Lot 7 (North 40)
  • Lot 1B
  • Lot 1C

Grilling is allowed in the daily parking and tailgating areas on small portable grills. No dumping of charcoal or ashes is allowed.

Portable shelters (i.e. E-Z Up shelters) no larger than 10 feet by 10 feet are allowed in designated daily parking and tailgating lots. They must be set up behind the vehicle, not taking another parking spot or hindering vehicle or pedestrian travel areas. Shelters must be secured to the vehicle.

All shelters must be put away by the race starting time on Race Day in Lots 1B, 1C, 2 & 3 Grass.

Rideshare (Lyft, Uber, etc.)
For those a rideshare service to and from the track, drop off and pick up locations will be south of IMS at the corner of Main St. & Gilman St. and north of IMS at the corner of 25th St. and Georgetown Rd. View Transportation Map

Taxis will arrive / return from the track, pick up will be located at the corner of Polco St. and 10th St. Taxi stands are also located outside of the following downtown hotels:

ADA Access

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Ticket Office is located in the Main Administration Building at 4790 W. 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222, just east of the roundabout at Crawfordsville Road and 16th Street. Arrangements can be made through the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Ticket Office to accommodate guests who require accessible seating and parking. Accessible seats and spaces for wheelchairs and companion seats are available.

*Although daily parking is not permitted on the pavement otherwise; any Lot 3 Grass auto pass accompanied with a state-issued disabled tag will be granted a disabled space in the front of the lot, assuming the area isn’t full.
